This house is named Vale-O which means “house in the clouds” and at 1100 feet of elevations it has spectacular views of the Somosomo Straight, Koro Sea and the second largest island in Fiji, Vanua Levu.
The house was built in 1983 and was repainted to a yellow color in 2020 and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house is approximately 1200 square feet and the front veranda another 300 square feet. There is a garage and laundry room under the house. There is a modest kitchen and living area which opens to a front veranda.
The house is framed and built from Douglas fir. The kitchen countertops were remodeled with a local hardwood. The flooring throughout the house is a revered local hardwood Vesi. Some of the furniture is included: in the living room there is a white leather set and coffee table from Pacific Green were purchased in 1996; the dining table and chairs from Pacific Green were purchased in 2010; and in the master bedroom the bed was made by Webster Construction in 2002.
The house is powered by a 1983 Lister generator and there is a gas hot water system. Fresh water is supplied by a rainwater catchment system which comprises 11,800 liters across three holding tanks.
The caretaker's cottage was built in 1995. Their are numerous fruit trees across the property and the owners used to grow strawberries as the temperature is cooler at this elevation which is favorable for strawberries.
